Harvey’s Hope can provide this column with a second winning nap in five days at Doncaster tomorrow evening.
The progressive five-year-old, trained by Keith Reveley, will have the assistance of Paul Hanagan as he bids to complete a quick double in the Napoleans Casino Sheffield Handicap.
Harvey’s Hope came good under the nap vote at Redcar on Sunday with a smooth success for rider Shane B Kelly in an apprentices’ race, which means he escapes a penalty tomorrow.
He looks very much a horse on the up and, having done us a good favour at Redcar, he can produce an encore.
Half an hour earlier, Hanagan can also win the One Call Insurance Handicap on Dubawi Dancer, trained by William Haggas.
Twice a winner at Yarmouth this season – she flopped in her only other outing on soft ground at Salisbury – Dubawi Dancer scored with any amount in hand on her latest start last week.
A 6lb penalty does not look enough to stop her in her tracks and she can carry Hanagan to victory on what promises to be a lucrative evening for Malton’s champion jockey.
Thirsk trainer David Barron sends Shesastar in the Skybet Supporting Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival Handicap.
A winner on this course last November when she provided Silvestre de Sousa with his 100th winner of the season, Shesastar returned in glory at the end of last month when coming from last to first under Jamie Spencer to win with something in hand.
She has gone up 5lb for that victory, but is a talented sprinter and she is fancied to go in again. Graham Gibbons takes the mount.
Norton jockey Tom Eaves has good prospects of winning the opening tyregiant.com Maiden Fillies’ Stakes on Odyssey.
Trained by Michael Dods, the juvenile shaped well on her debut to finish third on this course last month. That experience will not have been wasted on her and she should go well, stepping up to seven furlongs for the first time.
Paul Midgley is enjoying a good summer and He’s A Humbug could be another winner for the skilful Westow trainer in the Welcome To Yorkshire Art of Yorkshire Garden Handicap over six furlongs.
A new recruit to the yard, the seven-year-old made an encouraging comeback when third at Catterick two weeks ago over seven furlongs. This shorter distance looks ideal for him and Micky Fenton has the mount.
At Sandown’s afternoon meeting, the Weatherbys VAT Services Star Stakes, a Listed affair, takes pride of place.
Frankie Dettori has a good ride aboard Arsaadi, trained by Ed Dunlop and a useful winner at Newbury a fortnight ago.
This is obviously a step up in class for Arsaadi, but she looks a filly with scope and she may prove too good for her rivals, who include Richard Fahey’s Worthington.
Newbury maiden winner Korabushka, the mount of Ryan Moore, turns out again in the Inkerman London Handicap and looks fairly rated off a mark of 83. There could be more to come.
The consistent Aldwick Bay (3.55) and the promising Garud (4.30) are two others to note.
