A GROUP race will be the target of Godolphin’s Sajjhaa after she ran out an impressive winner of the EBF ‘Authorized’ Lyric Fillies’ Stakes at York Racecourse last night.
Jockey Frankie Dettori could ease down at the line after taking a commanding advantage, and moving to the stands side, with two furlongs of the mile and a quarter contest left to travel.
Sajjhaa (4-5 fav) had finished second to Midday at York in the Middleton Stakes in May and had disappointed in fourth next time out at Ascot.
But trainer Saeed bin Suroor reckoned the ground had been too soft for her in Berkshire and, following this two-length win over Myplacelater, is expecting much more in the future.
“She’s a tough filly and always tries really hard,” he said. “She was happy and comfortable. She has a good turn of foot and I am looking for a Group race now.
“A mile and a quarter will be the best. Frankie is happy with her.”
