Manighar, who has finished in the frame in his two outings this season, can hit the jackpot in Sussex tomorrow by taking the £100,000 Artemis Goodwood Cup.

Trained at Newmarket by Luca Cumani, the five-year-old finished fourth to Fame And Glory in the Ascot Gold Cup last month when he may not quite have stayed the two and a half miles.

The return to two miles tomorrow is expected to suit Manighar, who had finished third to Duncan in the Yorkshire Cup, where he had Blue Bajan one place in front of him.

Blue Bajan, trained at Nawton by David O’Meara, went on to win the Henry ll Stakes at Sandown – a remarkable Group 2 triumph for a nine-year-old in the autumn of his career.

But he came up short in the Ascot Gold Cup and finished a long way adrift of Manighar, who may have needed his York comeback.

Kieren Fallon has the mount on Manighar, who is napped to win this Group 2 staying showpiece.

Graham Gibbons, who won the opening race at Goodwood yesterday with a daring ride on Arlequin for Middleham trainer James Bethell, can add to his Goodwood tally aboard Noble Storm in tomorrow’s other highlight, the Group 2 Audi King George Stakes.

This race will be run at a fast and furious pace, but Noble Storm is blessed with an abundance of speed, is a previous course and distance winner, and comes here after winning two of his three races this term, most recently a Listed event at Haydock.

The Betfred The Bonus King Handicap, which opens the card, looks fiercely competitive, but Sagramor looks sure to give backers a good run for their money.

Hughie Morrison’s three-year-old looks very talented, having won valuable handicaps at Haydock and Royal Ascot on his last two starts. Nicky Mackay has struck up a good rapport with him and the combination can complete a notable hat-trick in this £45,000 affair.

Wild Coco (3.45), who has won her last two races, a maiden race and a Listed contest, both at Newmarket, looks a progressive filly, trained by Henry Cecil.

She looks up to the Group 3 challenge which faces her tomorrow, while Sir Michael Stoute can score with Kinyras (5.25), who seemed to be undone by the soft ground at Salisbury last time out.

At Nottingham, Set To Music bids to hit a top note for Hayley Turner in the Complete Data Security From Imperva Handicap.

The three-year-old has struck form with a vengeance lately, winning at Doncaster and, most recently, over this course and distance.

She has been hiked up 10lb for her latest success, but she is a most progressive performer and, taking on older horses here, she is fancied to complete a hat-trick.

Course and distance winner Baby Queen (3.05) and the talented, if quirky, Sergeant Troy (5.15), who wears a visor for the first time, are others to consider.
