Bomber Jet can fly high for Paul Hanagan at Haydock tomorrow evening on what has already proved a memorable week for Malton’s champion jockey.

On Wednesday at Catterick, Hanagan chalked up his 1,100th winner in Britain with a spirited effort on Blown It, who got on top in the shadow of the post.

And, come Saturday, he will be heading south to Ascot to captain the Great Britain team of jockeys, against sides from Ireland, Europe and the Rest of the World in the Shergar Cup.

Hanagan, who is engaged in a fierce tussle with Thirsk-based Brazilian Silvestre de Sousa for title honours this season, scored on Bomber Jet for Nigel Tinkler at Ayr last month.

He was impressed by the horse’s talent and attitude and felt there was more to come from him. Nap selection Bomber Jet now contests a handicap for the first time and looks fairly treated off a mark of 78 in the Countryside Freight Nursery over six furlongs. He can win again and trigger a good evening for his jockey, who, having been born and raised at nearby Warrington, has a strong local following at Haydock.

William Haggas tends to book Hanagan for horses with solid chances and tomorrow looks no exception. The pair team up twice, with Dubawi Dancer and Lordofthehouse.

Hanagan won on Dubawi Dancer a couple of weeks ago at Doncaster when the filly was following up a previous Yarmouth win, gained in the hands of the since sidelined Ryan Moore.

She is 8lb higher in the handicap here, but she looks a filly on the up and is expected to take plenty of beating in the Buckley Family Celebrating Rebecca Bellard’s 21st Handicap.

Lordofthehouse looked an unlucky loser at Doncaster last month on his belated seasonal debut.

The three-year-old finished a close-up third, beaten less than a length, after being accidentally hit on the nose by a rival jockey’s whip in the closing stages.

That race was over ten furlongs and the step up to a mile and a half tomorrow should suit Lordofthehouse, who can give Hanagan and Haggas another winner.

The speedy Pea Shooter (7.40), well regarded by Kevin Ryan and back from a break, and David O’Meara’s Maggie Mey (7.40), runner-up in her last two races, here and at York, are two others to note.

At Newmarket’s evening meeting, punters can get off on the right foot with Fresa in the opening Download The Blue Square Bet App Nursery.

Sir Mark Prescott’s filly won in nice style, despite looking green, at Ayr on her latest start. The handicapper looks to have taken a lenient view of that form and has let her in her first handicap off a mark of 72. She can oblige again.

The promising Figaro (7.30) and Halfsin (8.00), winner of all his three races this season and a progressive performer from the Marco Botti stable, also look tempting wagers.
