Norton trainer Tony Coyle, who has made a dream start to his month-old career, can enjoy further success at Redcar tomorrow.
Coyle, a former jump jockey, who, for the past five years has run a livery, breaking and pre-training yard, switched to training last month and, after saddling a winner within a week of receiving a licence, proceeded to make it three winners with his first seven runners.
Thatcherite will always be dear to Coyle, having provided the Irishman with his first winner at Thirsk, and the gelding turns out again at Redcar tomorrow in his first handicap.
The three-year-old has been given a mark of 68, which looks pretty attractive and, with Julie Burke booked for the mount and taking 5lb off his back, Thatcherite looks sure to go well again for the upwardly mobile Coyle in the John Smith’s Redcar Straight-Mile Championship Handicap (Qualifier).
Baltic Fizz looks to have good prospects of landing the Goodswens Solicitors Nursery over six furlongs.
Trained at Middleham by Elaine Burke, the twice-raced juvenile got off the mark at Lingfield a fortnight ago and looks the type to make further progress in the handicap ranks.
Ollie Pears, whose six runners on Wednesday frustratingly resulted in three seconds and three thirds, clearly has his string in good heart. Urban Kode can oblige for the Norton trainer in the Market Cross Jewellers Claiming Stakes.
Artists Corner, trained by Richard Fahey for a group of his friends from the Derwent Arms in Norton, would be a popular winner of the Derek & Eileen Brown Wedding Anniversay Selling Stakes. The filly has run solid races in three of her four starts. Barry McHugh rides.
At Haydock, Kevin Ryan’s O’Gorman is napped to show his rivals the way home in the rewards4racing.com Nursery over five furlongs.
A beaten favourite on his debut at Doncaster over six furlongs, when he missed the break and raced too freely, O’Gorman made no mistake over the minimum trip at Thirsk last time out, running out an impressive winner. He has been handicapped off a rating of 83, which looks fair and he is fancied to have the measure of Tim Easterby’s in-form Last Bid, winner of her last three races, two of them at York.
The £50,000 Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes, a Group 3 affair, is the feature race on the card, and Hot Prospect makes plenty of appeal from the Roger Varian yard.
A high-class performer, Hot Prospect made a belated start to the season at Newbury three weeks ago when he finished second to Dux Scholar. He should have benefited from that outing and may have too many guns for recent York Listed-race winner Sajjhaa.
Kieren Fallon, who will be aboard Sir Michael Stoute’s Class Is Class in the Rose Of Lancaster, looks to have an excellent mount in the main supporting race, the £30,000 EBF ‘Kayf Tara’ Dick Hern Fillies’ Stakes aboard Submission. Luca Cumani’s three-year-old has won her last two starts in the start of a filly very much on the upgrade.
Ursula, narrowly beaten Yarmouth last time, deserves to go one better in the first division of the Watch Racing UK On Sky432 Handicap, while Ballinargh Girl, runner-up on her last two outings, may prove the answer to the second leg.
A note should also be made of Karaka Jack, trained by David Nicholls, and a winner over Powerful Presence at York. He has every chance of following-up in the TurfTV.co.uk Handicap.
