Keith Reveley is more familiar with having jumping winners at Newcastle, but the Saltburn trainer has good prospects of a completing a Flat double at tonight’s meeting at Gosforth Park.

Broctune Papa Gio and Madrasa both have excellent prospects for Reveley. The former runs in the Lighthouse Project Handicap and, following two creditable placed efforts this season, is fancied to make it third time lucky.

Experienced apprentice Declan Cannon rides Broctune Papa Gio, who is proven over this seven furlongs.

The Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles Handicap is the target for Madrasa, who was successful at Redcar earlier this week.

There was plenty to like about that performance, which saw the four-year-old streak clear inside the final furlong.

It is no surprise that Reveley is keen to geet Madrasa out again before he’s re-handicapped and his 6lb penalty hardly looks enough to compromise his chances of completing a quick double.

Sheriff Hutton trainer Tim Walford looks to have Talent Scout back in form, judged by the gelding’s latest encouraging display at Pontefract where he finished fourth under Phil Makin.

Duran Fentiman takes over this evening in the Nestlé Confectionery Fawdon Handicap over a mile and it would be no surprise to see Talent Scout, a dual winner last year, chalk up his first win of the campaign.

Dean Iarracht, who looks to be running into form, can go well for Tracy Waggott in the Blue Riband Handicap, while Norton jockey Tom Eaves has chance of a winner aboard Dreaming Of Rubies, a lightly-raced filly, who is still open to plenty of potential, in the concluding Breakaway Handicap.

The feature of tomorrow’s racing, which comprises only two jumps meetings, is the £30,000 Aviva City of Perth Gold Cup over three miles.

One of the showpiece events of Perth’s annual racing calendar, the latest renewal looks an opportunity for North Yorkshire raider Zitenka to win for Great Habton trainer Tim Easterby.

Tony McCoy was in the saddle when Zitenka won at Market Rasen on his latest outing, a victory which followed on from a narrow defeat on this course.

Lucy Alexander, the female riding sensation of the last 12 months, has been booked to ride Zitenka tomorrow. She has ridden him before and should enjoy an excellent spin on the in-form ten-year-old.

Tim Vaughan, making the journey to Britain’s most northerly course from South Wales, deserves to be rewarded and has good prospects of drawing first blood with Next Exit in the opening Betfair Novices’ Hurdle.

The former point-to-pointer was a good second on his recent return to action over hurdles at Ffos Las.

Gordon Elliott, based in Ireland, has a fine record on this course. He saddles Lord Redsgirth in the Fugro Subsea Services Novices’ Chase.

Beaten at long odds-on on this course last time, when tried over three miles, Lord Redsgirth had won here previously over two and a half miles.

He travels strongly in a race and it is interesting that Elliott has switched him back to two miles tomorrow. He promises to be hard to beat.

The nap vote is awarded to What A Steel in the Crabbie’s Alcholic Ginger Beer Handicap Chase.

Alistair Whillans’ versatile gelding beat DJ Milan (winner since at Wetherby) on this course last month. The drop back in trip will not bother him and he is taken to follow up.

Whillans also has a good chance with recent Hexham winner Benluna in the ETPM 5th Birthday Novices’ Handicap Hurdle.
