Frankie Dettori warms up for Royal Ascot at Doncaster tomorrow and has good prospects of bagging a double on Columella and Paramour.
Newmarket trainer William Haggas, who sent out Valiant to win at York yesterday, is introducing Columella in the Coffee Shop Dore Village Maiden Stakes and the fact he has booked Dettori looks a pointer to this speedily-bred daughter of Kyllachy making a winning debut.
There is much more form to go on in the GCI Com Empowering Your Communications Handicap and Paramour makes appeal if he handles this drop back to six furlongs.
Trained last season by David O’Meara, who won with him over a mile at Pontefract, Paramour, now with Alan Bailey, scored over seven furlongs on his latest start at Newmarket, showing plenty of dash and making all the running. He looks an interesting candidate in this tough handicap.
Tim Easterby has good prospects of winning the Freebets.co.uk Handicap with Regal Acclaim.
The three-year-old, a winner at Catterick on his reappearance, finished a creditable second to Dancheur at Redcar on his latest start. He may not have to improve much on that display to go one better this time.
David Lanigan, who saddled Main Sequence to finish second in the Derby at the beginning of the month, is represented by Biographer in the Willie McKay Sports Management Maiden Stakes.
A useful-looking prospect, Biographer finished runner-up to Opinion at Windsor on his debut. He should go well with that experience under his belt.
Also worth noting on Town Moor are Declan Carroll’s Invincible Hero (4.40), a respectable fourth at Carlisle on his latest outing, and My Guardian Angel (5.15).
The latter, trained by Mark Tompkins, failed by only inches to beat Forget Me Not Lane at Redcar last month. That form has since been franked by the winner, who has gone on to complete a hat-trick.
Kevin Ryan, trainer of Forget Me Not Lane, sends Our Jonathan to Salisbury for the £33,000 Bathwick Tyres Cathedral Stakes and the hint should be taken. Winner of last season’s Ayr Gold Cup, Our Jonathan scored at Haydock last month on his first outing of the campaign.
Franny Norton, who knows him so well, rides.
Maydream, who has been in cracking form, looks sure to make a bold bid for a hat-trick in the opening Bathwick Tyres Handicap, while the nap vote is awarded to Naabegha in the Westover Handicap.
Trained by Ed Walker, Naabegha finished a short head second to Solar Spirit at Catterick last week. He can go one better over this five furlongs.
