GLEN’S DIAMOND, who ran the race of his life on Knavesmire last month when finishing second to Red Cadeaux in the Yorkshire Cup, is fancied to upset the Frankel-winning partnership of Sir Henry Cecil and Tom Queally in tomorrow's feature race at Pontefract.

Trained at Malton by Richard Fahey and the mount of Tony Hamilton, Glen’s Diamond went down by a length on his latest start, which represented a career-best performance for the Musley Bank gelding, winner of last season’s Group 3 Dee Stakes at Chester.

There are only five runners in tomorrow's £33,000 totepool Pontefract Castle Stakes, but they include Cecil's Jet Away, winner of both his races this season. Queally’s mount looks sure to make a bold bid to complete a hat-trick, but Glen’s Diamond, who will relish the expected give in the ground, is selected to have the edge.

At Haydock this evening, Red Roar (7.20), a winner at Carlisle earlier in the week, is taken to defy a penalty for Alan Berry and Paddy Aspell, while recent Leicester winner Lady Loch (7.50) is selected to provide Norton jockey David Nolan with his second winner of the week.

Also worth noting is the Michael Hills-ridden Kaafel (8.20), trained by Charlie Hills, who is overdue a winning turn.
