Doncaster's loss is Newbury's gain tomorrow as Eagle Mountain limbers up to bag the final Group 1 prize on the Flat in Britain this season.
The Racing Post Trophy, transferred south while Doncaster undergoes major refurbishment, is the target for Eagle Mountain, who bids to give Aidan O'Brien his fifth win in this prestigious juvenile event since 1996.
A close second to the unbeaten Teofilo, this season's outstanding two-year-old colt, in a Group 2 race at The Curragh in August, Eagle Mountain then came to York and finished a half-length second to Vital Equine in the Champagne Stakes after seeming to find seven furlongs on Knavesmire plenty on the sharp side.
Since then, Eagle Mountain has stepped up to a mile, the distance of tomorrow's race, back at The Curragh and won the Group 2 Beresford Stakes by a wide margin.
A son of Rock Of Gibraltar, Eagle Mountain looks to be progressing with every outing and, given O'Brien's outstanding record in this race, he is napped to become winner number six for the peerless Irish trainer.
Alfie Flits makes plenty of appeal in the Stan James St Simon Stakes.
The burgeoning star of Alan Swinbank's North Yorkshire stable, ex-bumper horse Alfie Flits has won three of his four starts this season, his only defeat coming on ground too fast for him over ten furlongs at Sandown on his latest run.
Given a nice break, Alfie Flits returns to action on a more suitable surface tomorrow and, although the opposition is pretty stiff, this exciting horse is fancied to come out on top.
In the Stan James Horris Hill Stakes, make a note of Mythical Kid, trained by Sir Michael Stoute.
This well-bred juvenile created a very favourable impression when making a winning debut over this course-and-distance earlier this month, and it is significant that Stoute has elected to throw him into this Group 3 contest so soon in his career.
Ransom Captive (3.50), a debut winner at Redcar last month, is another who is fancied to cope with a step up in class, while Mark Johnston's progressive Celtic Step (4.20) is also worthy of attention.
Tomorrow's selections
