North Yorkshire apprentice Shane B Kelly swerves tomorrow’s Catterick meeting in order to travel to the evening meeting at Kempton, where he is fancied to ride a winner on the same card as his namesake, senior jockey Shane Kelly.
The ‘junior’ Kelly is apprenticed to Malton trainer Richard Fahey and travels to Kempton to ride for Norton trainer Brian Ellison aboard Pick A Little in the Win Big With Betdaq Multiples Apprentice Handicap.
A winner on this course over five furlongs four weeks ago, Pick A Little steps up to six furlongs this time and is napped to go in again.
The reason that Kelly has a ‘B’ included in his name is to distinguish himself from Newmarket-based Shane Kelly, a high achieving jockey, who is also likely to make his mark on this card.
He rides the consistent turf performer Snow Trooper in the concluding Irish Night At Kempton 11.07.12 Handicap. If the four-year-old can transfer his turf form to all-weather a bold bid is anticipated.
Also worth noting is Elaine Burke’s recent winner Dancheur (6.20), who makes the journey from Middleham, while the promising Presume (6.50) has good prospects on behalf of Sir Michael Stoute.
At Catterick, No Quarter makes plenty of appeal in the Follow Us On Twitter @Catterickraces Handicap.
Tracy Waggott’s gelding finished a neck second to Steel Stockholder at Thirsk last time out. Franny Norton’s mount may not have to improve much on that effort to go one better here.
Plenty of punters may be drawn to Our Diane in the opening British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing Maiden Fillies’ Stakes, but David O’Meara’s charge is drawn worryingly wide on the track and preference on this occasion is for Dream Maker, who has shown promise in both her outings.
Harare should not be overlooked in the August 17th Is Ladies’ Evening Handicap.
Trained by Karen Tutty and the mount of her daughter, Gemma, the 11-year-old is in excellent form at present and was a winner last time out at Hamilton. A horse who likes to come late on the scene, he should be suited by this course and distance.
Incitement shaped well in maiden company on this course last time out to finish fourth. A handicap mark of 68 looks fair and Andy Crook’s four-year-old has a winning chance in the Racing Again Next Wednesday Handicap over two miles.
