Leeds United manager Dennis Wise is backing former Barnet goal-machine Tresor Kandol to make the grade at Elland Road.

The much-travelled striker, who is at his eighth club, struggled in his last two starts, against Hull City and Sunderland, but Wise believes the arrival of former Chelsea and Glasgow Rangers front-man Tore Andre Flo will buy time for Kandol to improve.

Wise turned Kandol's loan move into a permanent transfer earlier this week, with Leeds paying £200,000 and the striker signing a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Wise said: "Tresor started off very well but unfortunately a little pressure has been put on him, which is a bit unfair remembering where he has come from.

"We need to work with him but we haven't had much time to do that and he was thrown in at the deep end.

"Now that we have Tore Andrew Flo we will have a bit more time to work with Tresor and he will improve. We have seen what he is capable of and we have to get the best out of him."

Kandol scored 25 goals in 30 starts for Barnet and was League Two's top scorer with 13 before moving to Elland Road on November 23.

His only goal in eight appearances for United came in the 2-2 draw against Barnsley on December 2.

Meanwhile, Sean Gregan has left United by mutual consent. He was due to return for a reserve game this week after ending his loan spell at Oldham but failed to turn up.
