DENNIS WISE believes the fates are against him after a triple blow to Leeds United's Championship survival hopes.

Manager Wise says his squad is down to the bare bones for tomorrow's game at Wolves and he is looking to the emergency loan market after learning Alan Thompson, Shaun Derry and Armando Sa face long lay-offs.

Thompson tore a calf muscle and Sa tore his hamstring against QPR on Tuesday night, while Derry is out for two months after Achilles surgery.

Tore Andre Flo, Gary Kelly, Robbie Elliott, Frazer Richardson, Stephen Crainey and Gylfi Einarsson are already sidelined, Richard Cresswell and Hayden Foxe are defying injuries but are unable to play two full matches a week and Jemal Johnson, on loan from Wolves, cannot play against his club tomorrow.

With a rearranged game at Birmingham coming up on Tuesday, Wise must decide how and when to use Cresswell and Foxe.

The Leeds boss complained: "Someone up there doesn't like us.

"The loan market still appeals but two of our targets have said no. They end up wanting more money to come here than they are on at their present clubs. It makes you scratch your head because players should be up for a challenge and we can give them that. I would certainly have fancied this situation as a player but I can't put my boots on any more. I wish I could."

Since the start of the year Leeds have won three, lost three and drawn one of their league matches and failure to score in the last two is a concern. Wise said: "We created chances against QPR but the ball wouldn't fall for us. We have to concentrate on improving our finishing and carry on believing.

"I would be worried if we were not creating chances. If you don't buy a ticket you can't win the lottery.

"We have to stay calm. There is plenty of time for us to turn things round. There is a group of teams near the bottom and their positions will change from week to week. Another team will be dragged into it, I'm sure."

Wise is pleased with the form of Danish goalkeeper Casper Ankergren, who has conceded just two goals in his three games since arriving on loan from Brondby at the end of last month.

With Neil Sullivan having joined Doncaster, Ankergren and another on-loan keeper, Graham Stack, are rivals for the jersey. Wise said: "I'm very pleased with both keepers and I'd like to keep them. They are both on loan but have shown they are able to do well in this league and at a higher level."
