LEEDS United chairman Ken Bates said most clubs in League One would want to be in the club’s position ahead of the make-or-break clash against Bristol Rovers tomorrow.

A sell-out Elland Road crowd will cheer the Whites on in a match where second-placed Leeds know a win will see them return to the Championship.

“Everyone is up for it and ready to go and if we win we’re promoted, that’s the end of it,” said Bates. “We’re still second, a point ahead, and 22 other clubs would want to be in our position. If we win they can’t take it off us.”

Manager Simon Grayson knows the maths are straight-forward – win and seal promotion. Any other result gives hope to the other four teams hoping to steal second behind champions Norwich.

Bates said he was looking forward to a “tremendous atmosphere”.

“Apart from Norwich, it’s been very much dog eat dog over the past few months and no real pattern has emerged,” he added. “You have to say that promotion out of League One this season is more exciting than either the Championship or the Premiership.”
