JACQUELINE COWARD took the plaudits at the Sinnington Point-to-Point with a classy double.

Artic Pride (6-1) won the Confined race and the Scackleton-based rider, a perennial leading player for the Yorkshire Area Point-to-Point Club’s Lady Jockey’s title, also took the maiden contest with 8-1 shot James Wyatt.

Artic Pride was fourth approaching the second last at the Duncombe Park track, which had been redesigned for this year’s event, but the pair took it on after the last and stayed on in good style with Coward’s mount seeming to relish the softer conditions.

James Wyatt, meanwhile, went clear three out and was never trouble.

Odds On Dan, the favourite, failed to live up to his billing and pulled up before the last while the well-fancied Danebrook Lad stayed on strongly for second.

The Hunt Members contest, which opened proceedings, went to William Easterby, who was riding his mother’s Be There In Five (2-5 fav). Bought at Doncaster sales for £10,000 after disappointing for previous trainer Nicky Henderson, Be There In Five made all the running and quickened up well after the last.

Yorkshire stalwart Guy Brewer notched a winner when riding 2-1 favourite Bollin Line to glory in the Restricted race, while Shane Marriott teamed up with King Penda (4-5 fav) to take the Novice Riders’ race.

Galant Nuit (4-1), piloted by Rees Morgan Murphy, caused an upset in the Mixed Open when upsetting odds-on favourite My Old Piano.
