THE first City of York Triathlon – open to 400 competitors – will be held at the York Sport Village on Sunday, April 27.
The event is the first of 15 on the 2014 calendar for organisers UK Triathlon, who run a range of contests from childrens’ triathlons to the ultimate iron distance triathlon.
A spokesman for UK Triathlon said: “This joint initiative with York Sport is set to inspire entrants of all abilities to take on the challenge of a swim, bike and run in and around the University of York and York Sport Village.
“We are extremely excited about our first event at this fantastic venue in York and look forward to returning year on year as the event grows.”
There is the option to enter as an individual or a relay team of three.
The triathlon starts with a swim in the heated indoor pool, followed by a ride on a multi-lapped bike course before a closing run.
