THE newly-formed ladies team York Tornadoes Basketball Club sampled debut delight as they beat Scarborough Seahawks 43-31 in their first game.
Captain Donna Smith top-scored with 11 points in the friendly triumph, which follows only three weeks of training for the fledgling team.
Sessions are held at Manor School every Monday from 8pm to 9.45pm.
A club spokesman said: “The girls did exceptionally well considering this is a new team still getting used to playing together, and we are really excited as there are some very talented players in this group.”
More friendlies are planned before the team enters the Leeds District League next season. Anyone interested in joining should email arnie@yorktornadoes.co.uk
The Tornadoes have more than 100 men and women training with their squads.
