YORK City stars of yesteryear - and indie rock hero Rick Witter - will be turning out for a charity football match on Sunday, April 6, at Huntington Sports & Social Club’s ground, kicking off at 11am.
They will be playing against a York FA Old Boys side that includes former York and District League players from the last five decades.
The likes of former Minstermen favourites Chris Topping, Steve Tutill, Andy McMillan, Jon McCarthy, Tony Canham, Gary Ford, Joe Neenan, Iain Dunn, Chris Marples, Steve Bushell and Shaun Reid are included in the 20-man squad.
Also involved is Shed Seven frontman Witter, who is to make a guest appearance for the Minstermen Veterans.
Meanwhile, Dave Fogg, 63, a former Osbaldwick stalwart, will be joined in the FA Old Boys line-up by the likes of John Harrison, Ian Wilson, Alan Smith and Graeme Butcher, who all appeared in the side that won ten consecutive York and District League titles.
Admission is by programme on the day, costing £3, with all children free. There will also be a raffle and auction to help raise funds for the appeal.
