WILBERFOSS is to be the new venue for expert tennis coaching through the winter.
Experienced coach Matt Ward - already well established in several local clubs including Pocklington and Wheldrake - is introducing the programme: “I Can Play Tennis” to Wilberfoss.
The aim is to encourage more people, especially youngsters, to take up tennis.
Free taster sessions have been arranged at the following venues: Thursday, November 13 in the Community Centre (indoors) 3.45pm to 4.45pm for four to six-year-olds 4.45pm to 5.45pm six to seven-year-olds Sunday, November 13 at Wilberfoss Tennis Club courts (outdoors whatever the weather) 2pm to 3pm eight to ten-year-olds 3pm to 4pm 11-16-year-olds The tennis coaching programme will begin in full from the following week on these days and times and will run throughout the school term.
Holiday tennis camps will also be offered as well as regular tournaments and matches against other clubs. Ward explained that players will be grouped by ability and coached by a team of professional, licensed, insured and fully DBS-checked coaches.
The cost per session will be £5.50 for Wilberfoss TC members and £6.50 for non-members.
Ward and some of his team will be visiting the primary school to raise the profile of the coaching programme in the coming days.
