THERE will be small rises in the cost of York & District Amalgamation of Anglers membership in 2015.
Members agreed at the annual general meeting to raise the cost of the Year Book to £42 for adults and £25 for senior citizens, disabled anglers and intermediates (16 to 18-year-old).
The price of an adult Year Book was £41 in 2014, with the other three concessions subscriptions priced between £21 and £23. All other prices remain the same.
Amalgamation officials told the meeting they were impressed with the large fields competing in the recent Championship of the Yorkshire Ouse and Tower Trophy, but called for more local anglers to enter.
A spokesman said: "It has been pleasing to note the increase in the number of anglers attending the last two open matches, these being the Ouse Championship (109) and the Tower Trophy (53).
"Unfortunately, the attendance has been made up mainly of ‘off’ anglers. Where are all York’s anglers?"
At the meeting, there was also praise for the work of amalgamation members who had helped to clear a number of pegs on the Fulford and Donkey Woods stretches of the River Ouse in readiness for this winter's series of matches.
