THERE were goals galore as City of York ladies III recorded a weekend double in Yorkshire Hockey League division two.
City of York thrashed visiting Doncaster III 11-1 on Saturday and then beat University of Leeds IV 5-0 the following day to move up to fourth in the table.
Alice Birchall netted a hat-trick in the first 11 minutes against Doncaster, while Alice Wilson and player of the match Fay Chapman scored four goals apiece.
Good defending from Emily Cooper and Faith Civico kept it tight at the back.
York again started well at home to University of Leeds and the opening goal came from Jess Harbord, who deflected a cross into the net.
Another solid performance from Civico earned her the player of the match accolade as she worked hard with Sarah Boorman, Jenni Fitton and Julie Halford to keep a clean sheet.
The victory was wrapped up thanks to four goals from Rebecca Kearney.
City of York II lost 4-2 at table-topping Sheffield University Bankers II in the premier division.
York's scorers were Vicky Skilton and Lauren Elwood.
The City of York fifth team went down 1-0 to leaders Leeds V in division seven north, while City of York VI beat University of Leeds VII 3-0 in the same division.
City of York I's North League premier division game against Neston South Wirral I was abandoned due to fog.
