YORK-BORN golf ace Simon Dyson signed off his 2014 card with a high-five.
The joint 16th place Dyson secured in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai - the conclusion to the European Tour - confirmed his fifth-best year earnings-wise in the 15 he has competed in professionally since he left the amateur ranks in 2000.
Dyson's finish in the Race TYo Dubai climax, in which he posted a nine-under-par total (73 70 67 69), earned him 136,000 euros which put him close to the one million euros barrier in tournament earnings for 2014.
Alongside Ryder Cup ace Victor Dubuisson of France, Dyson was the leading player in finding the greens in regulation scores on the Jumeriah Estates complex, Dyson also finished as the third highest-placed Englishman in Dubai.
And in a further boost, the 36-year-old was elevated eight places in the world rankings to 113th spot.
While his past year had been interrupted by injury, including a spell out with a back spasm, Dyson still managed to post a healthy five top-five finishes and seven top-ten placings.
He also came close to swelling his tally of six European Tour titles, finishing second in the Netherlands in the KLM Open, an event he has previously captured three times.
