A LAST-32 tie against Hartlepool awaits York Indoor Bowls Club in the Egham Trophy after a victory over Harrogate.
At home, Neal Macdonald, Carol Banks, Helen Walker and Adam Liddell were in great form, scoring a four on the first and fifth ends.
They only lost one of the opening 12 ends and at that stage led 18-2, and finished winning 25-12.
June Clayton, Melanie Brooke, Graham Brooke and Paul Mooring came from 8-4 down after seven ends to lead 13-8 after 12 before dropping 12 shots over the next four ends.
They came back and went into the last end only two shots behind, but dropped another single and lost their game 22-19.
In Harrogate, Joan Jackson, Nigel Macdonald, Carol Instone and Dave Stroughair had a slender 6-5 advantage after seven ends against the rink of Harrogate’s star player, Cameron Legate.
A five set York on their way and they only lost four more ends as the game finished with an end to spare when the home side conceded with the final score at 24-11.
Hayley Macdonald, Sue Allen, Phil Parsons and Phil Emmerson trailed 9-4 after five ends before winning nine of the following 12 ends to give them a 21-14 lead with four ends to play. The game finished 21-19 to Emmerson's side.
York will face Hartlepool on January 11.
York’s New Years Eve tournament has had an overwhelming response, with entries filling up three weeks before the event was due to take place.
Anyone who has entered has been asked to be present for the draw at 9.45am. They first game is due to start at 10am.
