GOLF fans will have the chance to meet a world renowned caddy on Friday when he visits Kirkbymoorside Golf Club.

‘An Evening with Billy Foster’ is a ticket-only affair, with the Yorkshireman set to tell of his time as a caddy to some of the world’s best golfers, including Seve Ballesteros, Lee Westwood and Tiger Woods.

Foster began working as a full-time caddy in 1983 and has since proved to be a world class performer, amassing 30 tournament victories, including eight wins with Ballesteros, 12 with Darren Clarke, four with Gordon Brand Junior and one each with Sergio Garcia, Sam Torrance and HJ Baiocchi.

Among many career highlights, Foster has caddied in ten Ryder Cups and has been part of some special moments including Ballesteros' victories in the 1991 PGA Championship and Clarke’s victory over Woods in the final of the 2000 WGC Accenture World Match Play.

Foster recently caddied for 2009 Race to Dubai winner and world number one Lee Westwood, while Woods famously borrowed him from Clarke for the President's Cup in 2005 when his own caddie was unavailable.

Woods said of him: "I like his personality - it's very competitive. Very feisty."

Richard Carr, manager at Kirkbymoorside Golf Club, said: “It’s a great opportunity to meet one of the real characters of the professional golfing world, and we’re delighted to be welcoming him to Kirkbymoorside. His stories and insights are legendary.

"We know this will be a sell-out event so if people are interested in coming along, we’d recommend getting hold of tickets as soon as possible.”

Tickets are available for £25 per person and include a two-course carvery. The event starts at 7.30pm.
