Organisers of tomorrow’s Castle Howard Triathlon are calling for more competitors.

The event has attracted 250 entries already but places are still available.

Ten per cent of all profits will be given to Help For Heroes – a charity devoted to aiding and supporting wounded British soldiers.

Already more than £1,000 has been raised for the charity from the triathlon but the organisers are keen to garner as many entrants as possible.

Competitors can register on the day by turning up to the event, while for spectators there will be access to the Castle Howard estate, a range of parking, stalls, and food and drink.

There will also be camping and accommodation available to athletes travelling from farther afield.

The event is open to individuals, teams and families, and people of any age, experience or fitness level are encouraged to participate.

Triathlon as a sport has enjoyed a big rise in popularity in recent years, with participation levels having doubled since it became an Olympic sport.

Brian Adcock, race director of Castle Triathlons, said: “Castle Howard is a magnificent location. Its expansive grounds lend themselves so well to triathlons – we hope lots of people come along and capitalise on this great opportunity.

“It is such a great location that we believe this event will become a permanent fixture in the triathlon calendar.”
