YORK’S Carl Alsop has been inducted into the International Rock-It-Ball Federation’s Hall of Fame.

The honour came at an awards dinner at the George Hotel in Easingwold, where Ian Crosby and Graeme Wood, from Manchester and Teesside respectively, were similarly recognised.

Making the presentations, IRIBF commissioner Craig Buttery said: “Carl’s a real dynamo. He’s been instrumental in getting Rock-It-Ball going through the Air Cadet organisation where he has three teams, one of which became national champions this year.

“He’s set up the first Air Cadets tournament and the successful York Rock-It-Ball Club which has teams in the senior and junior leagues.

“Carl is part of the England Rock-It-Ball Association, an international player and he works as a volunteer with the IRIBF.”

The inaugural V2 Rock-It-Ball World Cup, meanwhile, will be held at Thornton-le-Dale Squash Club on Sunday, August 22.

It will start at 10am with the top ten players from England and Scotland participating in the individual version of the sport.
