WHEELCHAIR basketball is taking off in York.
York Vikings Basketball Club are now running a wheelchair team, and claim it is “one of the most truly inclusive sports around”.
The team was set up by the club with support from Active York, Simon Kumar, City of York Council’s new disability sport and physical activity officer, North Yorkshire Sport and York St John University.
The wheelchair basketball sessions, which were recently visited by Central York’s Labour MP Hugh Bayley, are open to adults and children over the age of 12.
The team meets every Thursday at York St John University, from 7pm to 8.30pm.
Further information is available by emailing Kumar, the team manager, at simon.kumar@york.gov.uk
