POPPIE Jaram of York proved to be an integral member of the victorious Yorkshire county squash team, writes Darren Waddle.
Competing at the girls’ Inter-county Championships at Lilleshall National Sports Park, Jaram was successful in the under-15 category and has now impressively managed to play her way through both events without losing a single game.
In the U13 category, she began her title challenge in a narrow defeat of Essex, before seeing off South East Wales in a more dominant performance.
In the final, Jaram was faced with the pressure of needing to win her match against Hertfordshire’s Nyah Williams in order to secure the trophy for the Yorkshire girls. The talented York teenager cruised to a 3-0 victory.
Coached at Dunnington Squash Club by Gary Crossland, she is sponsored by Harrow Rackets.
