TEAM Jorvik’s 17-strong contingent excelled with 69 personal best times, 18 ‘A’-grade and 23 ‘B’ grade medals at the Harrogate Hydro meet.
Zak Moorcroft (12) took the highest ‘A’-grade medal count with one gold (50 metres breaststroke), four silver and a bronze. He also also gained his qualifying time for the North Eastern Championships in the 200m backstroke.
Max Nozedar (16) was just one silver away from matching his teammate, his gold struck in the 100m butterfly.
Alistair Cooper (14) gained four silvers (200m and 400m individual medley, 200m backstroke and just missed gold in the 400m freestyle by 300th of a second) plus a bronze.
Eleanor Cooper (12) took ‘A’-grade gold in the 400m freestyle with a respectable 13-second lead over the opposition. She also gained ‘B’-grade gold in 200m butterfly, silver in the 100m fly and bronze in the 200m freestyle.
Esme Littlewood (12) bagged gold in the ‘A’-grade 50m backstroke.
Others medalling in the ‘B’-grade were: Patrick Neary-Lamond (10) with gold in the 200m freestyle, silver in the 50m freestyle, and fourth and seventh in the 200m and 50m backstroke respectively; Alistair Cooper (14) 100m backstroke; Emily Hill (11) 100m breaststroke; Gemma Burrow (17) 400m freestyle; Joseph Senior (12) 200m IM; Harry Nozedar (16) 50m breaststroke.
Other medallists in the ‘B’-grade were: Jordan Littlewood (17) two silvers; Megan Burrow (15) two bronze; Joseph Senior (12) bronze; Harry Nozedar (16) and Jess Buckton (11) bronze; Ryan Martin (16) bronze; Alistair Cooper (14) bronze.
Other swimmers achieving personal best times and finishing just outside medal positions were Georgia Kemp (13) and Natasha Durie (12).
Meanwhile, Team Jorvik swimmer Emma Pears-Dorland competed in the Kingston-upon-Hull Easter meet at Ennerdale Leisure Centre where she swam six events, medalling in all – coming second in 200m freestyle, third in 200m backstroke, fourth in 200m breaststroke and 100m fly, plus sixth places in both the 50m freestyle and breaststroke.
• A team of 18 swimmers from the Tadcaster Swim Squad took part in the Doncaster Dartes swimming club’s Minster Meet gala at the Beverley Leisure Centre in Beverley.
Thirteen-year-old Daniel Hunter, of Stutton, was top 13-year-old boy at the gala – an award given to the most successful swimmer in each age group, over the five events swum on the day. He bagged a gold medal.
Other gold medal winners were Tadcaster-based duo James Ball 12yrs and Alex Chappell 11yrs.
A total of 42 pbs were achieved, with 14 short course Tadcaster Swim Squad records broken.
