WILBERFOSS Under-15s stretched their lead to four points at the top of the City of York Girls’ Football League with a 5-3 win over Scarborough Ladies.
Wilberfoss, sponsored by Jorvik Construction, had the perfect start. In the fifth minute, striker Syd Greening popped up in the six-yard box to prod home the opening goal.
Two minutes later, the score was doubled with a terrific 25-yard shot that rocketed into the bottom corner from Emma Nelson.
The home side made it three in the 13th minute when Poppy Clancey played in Ellie Parkin, who produced a clinical finish.
Scarborough managed to get a lifeline in the 17th minute when they opened their account, but Wilberfoss responded with a fourth goal in the 29th minute, Greening again the scorer.
The second half started with the visitors on the offensive and they clawed another goal back in the second minute.
Wilberfoss restored their advantage in the 41st minute when a cross from the right was coolly slotted home by Jess Wills.
Scarborough set up a dramatic last 15 minutes when they scored their third direct from a free-kick.
