POPPLETON Tigers overcame Heworth 4-2 to reach the last eight of the York Motorsports Village Minor Football League Under-16s Cup.
David Pearson tucked away a loose ball in the box for the the Tigers' first goal at Millfield Lane and Cameron Burdass hit the bottom corner from the edge of the box for the second.
Ben Dennis-Jones finished off a great move with a tricky left-foot finish on the half volley for the third just before half-time.
Cameron Herd got a fourth late on in the second half by rounding the keeper and hitting a great finish from a tight angle.
The Poppleton man of the match was Ted Patmore, who turned in a strong and disciplined performance at centre-half.
Adam Skinner and Jake Tomlinson were the Heworth scorers.
Kalam Alexander was the visitors' man of the match, while Skinner and James Samuels had strong games.
The Tigers were joined in the quarter-finals by Poppleton Panthers, who were 9-0 winners at home to Pocklington Town.
Brooklyn won their round two tie at home to York Railway Institute 6-3, while Fulford beat visitors Aviva 6-1 and Stamford Bridge triumphed 3-1 at home to Haxby United.
Easingwold received a bye into the last eight, while the ties between Rawcliffe Tigers and Kirkbymoorside, and York Cubs and Tockwith will be played on Sunday, November 30.
Meanwhile, Brayton and York Cubs are the only two sides through to the quarter-finals of the U15s League Cup.
Brayton trounced Rufforth United 12-0, while Cubs were 7-1 winners over visitors Wilberfoss Mavericks.
