FIFTH-PLACED Thorpe United Under-16s held second-placed Yorkshire Amateur to a 0-0 draw in division one of the Garforth Junior Football League.
Amateurs tested Alex Ward early on, but the Thorpe keeper got a strong hand to the shot and Ben Clowes completed the clearance.
James Arnold whipped in a dangerous cross and Amateur’s keeper got the faintest touch to push the ball out of Richard Buckthorpe’s path.
Dominik Stankiwicz defended well as Amateur had a good spell of pressure, while Matthew Webster blocked a good break.
The second half was more in Thorpe’s favour, but they failed to find the killer final ball to unlock a dogged Amateur defence.
Man of the match Webster kept his team driving forward, with Arnold delivering a pinpoint free-kick for Tim Heaton, but the defender put his header just wide.
