NEW Earswick All Blacks Under-14s ended their season in fine style with a promotion-clinching 18-6 victory at Batley Boys.
The result means that the White Rose Avenue youngsters will play in division two of the Yorkshire Junior League.
After going behind to an early converted try, New Earswick slowly fought their way back into the game and great approach play saw George Hunt cross the line for a try converted by Harvey Baynes.
Both teams defended well for the remainder of the half to turn around at 6-6.
After the break, playing downhill, New Earswick gradually got on top and, after declining the two points from a penalty, they decided to run the ball to keep the pressure on.
They were rewarded when Jimmy Pigott crashed over for a try converted by Harrison Toad.
New Earswick were now in control, thanks mainly to outstanding defence that limited a previously free-scoring Batley to one score.
The victory was sealed when a dancing run by the outstanding Ewan Coverdale saw him cross the line under the sticks for a try converted by Baynes.
Despite New Earswick beating Batley both home and away they were unable to stop the hosts winning division three, but finished only one point behind them.
