RAWCLIFFE TIGERS held on to win the York FA Under-16s Senior Minor Cup with a 2-1 victory over Easingwold Town.
Rawcliffe were on top during the first 20 minutes but the closest they came to a goal before the break was when Easingwold keeper Nick Todd produced a one-handed save to stop Jamie Butt.
He could do nothing, though, five minutes into the second half when Butt fired home from 18-yards to break the deadlock.
Captain Niall Smallwood increased their lead on 70 minutes but Rawcliffe were pegged back as a fine so run from Easingwold’s Frankie Hildrick culminated with him halving the deficit.
Rawcliffe held out, though, to win the game.
Smallwood was presented with the trophy, sponsored by Pavers Shoes, by York FA president Roy Ellwood.
The York FA U14s Intermediate (Junior) Minor Cup Final went the way of Haxby Town, who squeezed past Fulford 2-1.
Finlay Burbidge gave Haxby the lead but it was short-lived as Tom Blades levelled the scores before the break.
Fulford put pressure on Haxby at the start of the second half but Burbidge struck again as he looped the ball over the Fulford keeper. James Carr almost equalised when he headed onto the Haxby crossbar and both sides would go on to hit the woodwork as Haxby held out to lift the trophy.
Maurice Deans, company director of sponsors Construction Marine Ltd, presented the trophy.
