THE final of the York & Ryedale Mitchell Football League Under-9s Plate competition was an all-Fulford affair.
Fulford beat Fulford FC 5-3 in the final at Poppleton’s Millfield Lane ground, after their club-mate had hit back from 3-0 down to level.
Fulford raced into an early 3-0 lead with goals from Jonathan Twelves, Luke Hesketh and Liam Dawson, but Fulford FC responded with a goal from Lorenzo Vanni and two from Will Almond.
Fulford had the final say as Luke Farmer and Liam Dawson scored the decisive goals.
Barry Casterton, chairman of the York Mitchell League, said: “Fulford’s unique double cup final appearance is testimony to the coaching ethos and strength in depth at a well-run club.”
In the semi-final on the same night, Fulford beat Osbaldwick Blacks, coming from 3-2 down to win 5-3 thanks to goals from Clemmie Cooper-Clifford, Dawson, Hesketh, Twelves and Farmer.
The other semi-final between Fulford FC and Poppleton Orange finished 0-0 and was decided by penalties.
Archie Miller, Declan Sanderson and Almond all held their nerve with their spot-kicks and Sam Richardson saved the final Poppleton penalty to send Fulford FC through.
