RUNNERS-UP Wilberfoss rounded off their City of York Girls’ Football League Under-15 campaign with a 3-0 win at Cayton Corinthians.

Foss, sponsored by Jorvik Construction, were captained by defender Alice Ella, who marked her last match for the club with an outstanding performance at the back which earned her the player of the match award.

Wilberfoss opened the scoring on 13 minutes when a cross from the left was fumbled by the goalkeeper and Ellie Whytock reacted first to slot home. Five minutes later, a free-kick by Emma Nelson was glanced in at the near post by Syd Greening.

Wilberfoss made it three in the 25th minute when an excellent pass from defender Ellie Fitzmaurice found Greening in acres of space. The striker beat her marker and coolly slotted home for her 31st goal of the season.

In the third minute of the second period, Wilberfoss goalkeeper Georgia Stanton had to make a brilliant diving save to her right to keep out a goal-bound free-kick.
