YOUNGSTERS from Poppleton Junior Football Club are kitted out for a bright future.
The Millfield Lane club’s under-9s and U10s teams have received new kits in their familiar orange livery as part of the McDonald’s FA Charter Standard Kit Scheme.
The strips were donated by McDonald’s franchisee John Atherton, of the restaurant in Blake Street, York.
Phil Palmer, of Poppleton Juniors, said: “We’re hugely grateful to John and McDonald’s for donating a new kit for our U9 and U10 teams.
“An average team strip costs around £500 per season, so this really is a huge saving for us and means we can spend the money on other areas of the club that need it.
“The kids are all really excited about wearing their new strip.”
Atherton, who owns and operates four McDonald’s restaurants across York, said: “Grassroots football clubs such as Poppleton Juniors are vital for communities, as they provide young people with the opportunity to get involved in football and feel part of a team.
“It’s important that businesses like McDonald’s support them and help to create the best possible experience for young aspiring footballers.”
