THE cream of junior tennis talent have been battling it out for York & District honours.
A total of 40 players entered the York & District Junior Tennis Singles Championships, organised by Bob Shread.
In the under-18 boy’s final, Dominic Shread, of St Peter’s School and Rowntree Park Tennis Club, was a 6-4 winner over Fulford School and Fulford TC ace Tom Craddock.
The U16s crown went to Dan Poole, of Woldgate College and Wilberfoss TC, who beat Dominic Shread 6-4.
Samuel Hardy-Mayo, of Joseph Rowntree School and Wigginton TC, was a 6-2 winner over school mate Ben King, of Poppleton TC, in the U14s tournament.
The U12s honours were won by Oscar Hubble, of Woldgate College. He won 6-4 against Fulford School and Fulford TC’s Dan Craddock.
St Olave’s School and Poppleton TC ace Robbie Greenall won the U10s final, ousting Alastair Clothier, of Headlands Primary School and Wigginton TC, 6-1.
In the U18 girl’s showpiece, St Peter’s pupil Victoria Herrenschmidt won 6-3 over Harriet Noble, of Queen Margaret’s School.
A 6-1 victory over St Peter’s player Chloe Lister earned Emma Foster, of Selby High School and Selby TC, the U16s title.
The U14s prize was won by Lauren Caley, of St Olave’s and Poppleton TC.
She was a 6-4 victor against Jodie Miller, of Queen Margaret’s School.
Eleanor Taylor, of Queen Ethelburga’s and Poppleton TC, was the U12s champion, beating Ellie Cayley, St Olave’s School and Poppleton TC, 6-3.
