A TOTAL of eight records were smashed at Terrington Hall School’s annual athletics sports day competition.
The record-breakers were led by nine-year-old Year 4 pupil Gabriel McGill, who collected nine gold medals and made school history in the under-9s javelin (17 metres), U9 discus ball (18m) and U9 high jump (1.21m).
Standing only 1.42m tall, McGill’s astounding high jump leap of beat the existing school record by 20.96cm.
Year 7 pupil Annabelle Francis broke the U12 girls 100m record, pounding over the line in 13.5 seconds.
Meanwhile, Year 6 pupils Jack Charters and William Fordy broke records – Fordy for the U11 discus ball (25.92m), and Charters for the U11 cricket ball throw (52.18m), U11 shot (19.7m) and U11 javelin (24.35m).
The afternoon concluded with the traditional canon relay, with all members of the school taking part.
