MORE than 250 athletes from more than 25 clubs kicked off the City of York Athletics Club Ingrams League at Huntington Stadium.
The first of a four-match competition, the event was established four years ago to give local athletes a chance to enjoy the sport in a friendly, competitive environment.
The places after the first day were: Under-9s and U11s, competing in three of four events – 75 metres, 600m, shot and long jump.
U11 girls: 1 Chelsea Dawson, 2 Abi Smith, 3 Ruth Aber.
U11 boys: 1 Callum Orange, 2 Matthew Hill, 3 Fergus McAuliffe.
U13s, competing in three from seven events offered.
U13 girls: 1 Rebekah Tiler, 2 Rachel White, 3 Sarah Magarahan.
U13 boys: 1 George Orton, 2 Nathan Hood, 3 Thomas Flatters.
U15s chose from five running distances and could also try javelin, discus and hammer.
U15 girls 1 Alyce McCurdie, joint 2 Georgie Fenney and Josie Parry.
U15 boys: joint 1 Harry Maslen and Thomas Somers, 3 George Armstrong.
The U17s hurdled 80m and 300m, ran distances of 100m, 300m, 800m, 1500, and 3000m, while also taking part in a choice of three jumps and four throwing events.
U17 women: 1 Hannah Ukandu, 2 Emma Kennedy, 3 Amena Abdelaziz.
U17 men: 1 Daniel Zudkowski, 2 Adam Robinson, 3 James Stanton.
