A Sheriff Hutton riding prodigy has added to her already impressive list of national titles by winning the Junior Combined National Championship.
Bethany Shipley, aged 13, was the outright leader during the entire competition, scoring highly in both the dressage riding test and the style show jumping sections.
This competition win builds on her successes of the last two years, the most recent being the British Riding Club NAF Junior Style Jumping National Championships.
Thanks to this most recent win, Shipley has gained a bursary, which entitles her to a 12-month programme of training, new equipment and food and care products for her pony.
It is not the first time the Shipley family have had a successful rider in their family.
Bethany’s older sister, Roxanne rode her way into the Great Britain dressage team last year on the pony Best Shamoko, the horse which Bethany has now taken over. Shipley has started competing successfully in British eventing and is aspiring to compete in the pony trials.
She has already been chosen to represent the Northern Region in one of its dressage teams for the Home International Championships in Scotland next month, and looks to be in prime position to push on in her career and eventually represent the Great Britain dressage team.
