North Yorkshire tennis prodigies Sean Evans and William Spencer aced the recent Doncaster Spring Tennis Open, winning the Under-18 Boys’ Doubles Championship.
Evans, from Fulford, and Spencer, of Malton, defeated number one seeds Jordan Simpson and Samuel Lemberger to win the title.
This is not the first time the two talented teens have won a doubles tournament.
They beat West Yorkshire team Andrew Atkinson and Ed Lovatt to win the Yorkshire Closed U16 Boys’ title last year.
Evans also won his first Lawn Tennis Association Grade 3 title, the U16 boys’ singles, impressively beating Jonathan Grey, of Bolton’s High Performance Tennis Centre, 6-1, 6-2.
The draw for the singles competition included 43 of the best players from across the North and the Midlands. Evans was clearly out in front of his rivals, winning all his matches in great style, and all in straight sets.
Evans and Spencer are both ranked in the top ten in Yorkshire in the LTA U16 category.
They will both continue to represent their home clubs this summer and are in pole position to continue their streak of success in both the singles and doubles events.
