FORGING to a flurry of lifetime bests were ten swimmers from Team Jorvik, who excelled at the Rotherham Metro’s A & B graded gala at Ponds Forge.
No fewer than 40 personal best times were achieved.
The nine-year-old boys’ ungraded 100 metres individual medley was the opening event where James Jeal took sixth place followed by Joseph Senior in the ten-year- old event taking a silver medal. Max Nozedar won gold in the 14-year-old age group.
Jeal went on to take fifth place in the 200m freestyle, four fourth slots in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 200m back, 200m breaststroke before bagging a bronze in the 50m butterfly.
Senior (10) won gold in the 50m butterfly and achieved fifth place in the 50m breaststroke and sixth in the 100m breaststroke.
Alistair Cooper (12) took silver in the 200m butterfly and achieved five pbs.
Sam Devlin received bronze in the 50m butterfly and just missed out on a medal in the 100m breaststroke but achieved his Yorkshire qualifying time in the process.
Nozedar gained two further gold medals in the 50m backstroke and the 100m butterfly, a silver in the 100m freestyle and bronze in the 50m breaststroke.
He completed his achievements with a speeding ticket in his final event, the 50m freestyle.
On the girls’ side Laura Jeal (10) had nine swims in the gala and posted personal bests in all nine.
She netted two silvers in the 50m breast and the 50m backstroke and bronze in the 100m breaststroke.
Her sister, Anna (13), took gold in the 100m freestyle and silver in 100m butterfly.
Eleanor Cooper (10) just missed out on bronze in the 100m freestyle by 100th of a second and was fifth in the 100m butterfly and sixth in the 200m backstroke.
Kayleigh Brown (16) and Rachel Dunmore (14) both put in strong swims with Brown taking a fifth in the 50m breaststroke and sixth in the 200m backstroke, while Dunmore managed a sixth position in the 50m backstroke.
