Haxby and Millers were the winners at NetballYork Junior League’s end-of-season tournament.
Haxby topped the round-robin group of six under-14 teams, while Millers were the best of the six U12 outfits in the competition at the University of York.
There were some close matches in the U12 group contested by Alpha, Hemingbrough, Osbaldwick and Rawcliffe, but Millers won four matches and drew one to edge out runners-up Haxby by a two-goal margin.
In the U14 age group, the tables were reversed as Haxby’s unbeaten team stormed to victory, scoring an impressive 81 goals in 80 minutes and conceding only 12.
Millers were second in the standings, ahead of Rawcliffe, a younger Haxby side, Elvington and Alpha.
Meanwhile, the NetballYork Junior League was staged once a month at the University of York, with teams playing at U12, U14 and U16 level.
The teams involved include Acomb-based Alpha, Elvington, Haxby, Hemingbrough, Huntington-based Millers, Osbaldwick, Rawcliffe and Scarborough.
The teams crowned champions this season were Haxby (U12s), Haxby Greens (U14s) and Millers (U16s).
