NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC suffered their fourth defeat in the last five games as they crashed 26-18 to Huddersfield side St Joseph’s in the Pennine League championship.
St Joseph’s took the lead at White Rose Avenue with an unconverted try but All Blacks responded with hooker Joe Davis powering over for a try converted by full-back Tom Holmes.
St Joseph’s regained the lead with a converted try and moved further in front when they crossed for an unconverted try.
All Blacks hit back just before the break when centre Adam Kirby powered over and Holmes converted to make it 14-12.
In the second half, St Joseph’s moved clear with a converted try, but All Blacks responded as Davis crossed for his second of the game. Holmes added the extras.
All Blacks piled pressure on the St Joseph’s line but were unable to make the breakthrough and the visitors sealed victory with a converted try a minute from time.
Man of the match for the All Blacks was winger Jack Law, backed up well by second rower Reece Blake, loose forward Chris Spain and stand-off Jack Carling.
All Blacks slipped to seventh place in the table after the defeat.
There was no game for All Blacks ‘A’ in division four.
Selby Warriors’ game at Silsden in division three was postponed, while Selby ‘A’s game at home to Underbank Rangers ‘A’ suffered the same fate.
In division six, Sherburn Bears were 36-12 home winners over Ryhill Hammers.
