YORK Acorn ARLC will begin life back in the elite tier of amateur rugby league with an away match at East Hull on Saturday, March 2.
Scott Rhodes’ Acorn outfit were promoted from National Conference League division one at the end of an enthralling 2012/13 campaign, having been relegated the year before.
Heworth, relegated into the new fourth tier of the NCL, will also begin their season on their travels, at Featherstone Lions, another side to have dropped into this new-look division three. Their season also kicks off on March 2.
The 2013 NCL season will comprise 14 clubs in the premier division, 13 in division one, 11 in division two, and 12 in the new division three, including newcomers to the league in Peterlee Pumas, Blackbrook, Wigan St Cuthbert’s, Kells, North West Men’s League champions Pilkington Recs, former RL Conference National high-riders Underbank Rangers, Woolston Rovers, Coventry Bears – who plan to join the semi-professional ranks in 2014 – and Hindley.

Meanwhile, Selby Warriors are confident they will have no more availability issues after conceding their match at West Leeds last week.
The Warriors resume Pennine League division three action at home to Silsden on Saturday, and spokesman Matthew Stevenson said this game would go ahead.
The side will look to reignite a promotion challenge.
“It was a one-off last week when we had a lot of people missing due to work commitments,” he explained.
“We’d had two weeks off due to snow and a lot of the lads had to catch up on work that weekend.”
Selby ‘A’s game at home to Queensbury ‘B’ last week was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. They renew their division seven campaign at Garforth Tigers on Saturday.
New Earswick All Blacks have no fixture in the championship division.
