NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC will be hoping veteran Carl Barrow passes fit to face Knottingley Rockware in the Pennine League championship on Saturday.

The former York City Knights second-row will have a late test ahead of Saturday’s home game (2.30pm), in which the All Blacks should otherwise be at full strength as they seek their first win since December 1.

A draw, three defeats and a few weekends off have followed that 7-6 win at St Joseph’s, and All Blacks will be expecting a tough test as they seek to regain form against a Rockware side who beat them 30-6 in September and currently sit third.

Selby Warriors, who had to concede their game a fortnight ago but returned to action last weekend with a 38-10 win over Silsden, will be eager not to come a cropper on Saturday as they host Undercliffe Wildboars in the Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy third round.

The Warriors, mid-table in division three, lifted this trophy in 2011 and reached the semi-finals last year. They toppled Troydale Trojans of the tier above in the last round and this time face a side flying high in the division below.

The second string gave an excellent display away to leaders Garforth last week, not reflected by the 54-12 scoreline.

The young side took the game to the hosts in the first half and took the lead when stand-off Nick Weaver sent scrum-half Danny England over, Weaver goaling. New recruits Harry Williams and James Lancaster also contained the powerful home pack, barring one try.

However, Garforth slowly got on top and, while Weaver added a goal, two tries before half-time put the hosts ahead. Selby’s inexperience showed in the second half, but they got a second try as second-row Kelvin Robinson, in his second game, took two defenders over the line with him.
