York amateur rugby league ladies were hit by a late equaliser and had to settle for a share of the Women’s ARL Winter League points after drawing 10-10 with Castleford Panthers.
Both sides had chances in the first quarter but solid defence was to the fore until York broke the deadlock on 25 minutes when second-row Bev Langan, back after missing the last few games and giving a player-of-the-match performance, powered over from close range.
Castleford responded two minutes later to take a 6-4 half-time lead, but York regained the lead. Centre Carly Hilton scored, loose-forward Kay Rollinson converting.
There were five minutes left when Cas levelled with a try, but the conversion attempt failed.
Full-back Emilie Hatfield and second-row Claire Viney impressed for York.
