YORK Acorn ARLC ‘A’ lost 34-28 in a see-saw battle with West Hull ‘A’ in the Yorkshire Men’s League premier division.
The Blue and Golds fielded several players backing up from the previous night’s 36-26 victory over New Earswick in the York & District Under-18s Cup final.
The Acorn points came from tries by Chris Rushworth (2), Callum Hannigan, John Waldron and Karl Harton. Hannigan kicked four goals.
Carl Loft, Matt Withers, Lewis Lord and Chris Rushworth all had excellent games in an encouraging performance.
Meanwhile, New Earswick All Blacks were beaten 56-30 at Bank Top Harriers in the Pennine League championship.
All Blacks led 24-14 at the break after tries by stand-off Tom Holmes, centre Sean Malarkey, substitute Robbie Beavers and prop Liam Davidson. Holmes converted all four tries.
Bank Top scored 42 unanswered points in the second half before Holmes scored a converted try late on.
The All Blacks man of the match was second rower Adam Kirby, backed up well by scrum-half Liam Gargan and prop Sam Waite.
In division three, Selby Warriors suffered a 30-10 home defeat by Odsal Sedbergh.
