NEW Earswick ARLC are ignoring injury problems to upgrade their aims for the season.

The All Blacks have five men missing for the visit of King Cross Park on Saturday (2.30pm) but, having already achieved their aim of doing better in the Pennine League championship, player-coach Jack Stearman is now eyeing a top-four finish.

They currently lie fifth, with five games to go.

Said Stearman: “We’re looking to finish on a high. We’ve lost two on the trot, including the cup loss to Wibsey, and we’re aiming to bounce back.

“The team’s aim at the beginning of the season was to do better than last year, which we’ve done. My personal aim was top four, and that’s now our target.”

The five crocks are Tom Holmes, Ash Martin, Dean Smith, Jack Sinclair and Jamie Norris, but Stearman is now fit.

King Cross Park sit second bottom, but they beat All Blacks last time they met. “We went with only 15 men, which was disappointing, and Liam Gargan and myself got injured early on,” Stearman said.

“We’re in a position now where we’re able to win these games.”

Selby Warriors go to Wyke knowing defeat will relegate them from division one.

The Warriors, with only two wins from 15 games, and with two points deducted, are bottom, five points from safety with three games left. Wyke are second bottom.

Selby Warriors ‘A’, on the other hand, still have promotion chances in division seven. They host Cowling, who are one point and one place above them.
