Heworth ARLC A' team put in a tremendous performance at Elmpark Way to beat Castleford Lock Lane A' 56-10 in the first round of the Yorkshire League's Alliance Cup.
The young Villagers conceded an early converted try but showed their fitness and enthusiasm to bounce back with a Jamie Wright touchdown goaled by Paul Watson.
Heworth then turned on the style with a succession of tries from Rich Rogers, Joe Murphy, Sean Brough, Craig Griffiths, Carl Smith and Watson, who added three more conversions for a 34-6 half-time advantage.
The Heworth midfield continued to dominate with centres Kenny Embleton and Sean Holmes feeding off the excellent half-back pairing of Gareth Watson and Murphy which enabled them to add further tries from Paul Thompson, on his return from a long injury, Murphy, Ben Eastwood and former New Earswick All Black Tom Coomber, who had an outstanding debut and shared the man-of-the-match award with Eastwood.
Watson added two further conversions and Wright one, while the visitors grabbed a late consolation try.
